Debra B. Pitts
Hello! My name is Debra B. It is so nice to meet you!

As a young girl I loved art and design. When I was 7, I learned to make "clothes" for paper dolls from the high school girls. So, I would make paper dolls with outfits I designed and gave them as gifts to the neighborhood girls. Now, I enjoy doing the same with fabrics and lace!
The B in my name is for Brom, my maiden name. I have used the B or Brom over the years in everything artistic in honor of my Dad, who taught me to love "whatever is pure, lovely, and of good report"! Coincidentally, I also love bees (Debra means industrious bee), birds, Britain, babies...a lot of B places and things. Of course, this includes brides and bridesmaids!
Sewing has been a love of mine for over 40 years - professionally for over 20 yrs. At first I sewed for family and friends, for home, or for church choirs. Sometimes I had interesting commissioned projects. For instance, I was once asked to make the prototype for an Angry Birds Little League soccer ball cover. These were sold at summer soccer camps.
From making matching mother-daughter outfits or the occasional quilt, to many years of being Costume Director or Back-Up Seamstress for high school musicals (in 2 different schools) I enjoyed (almost) every minute! This also gave me a chance to watch our kids practice since they were in plays and musicals. I enjoyed (almost) every minute!
Of course, any skill takes practice, practice and more practice. There's no replacement for experience!

Of course, loving people in general made it that much more fun!
Along the way, I learned valuable skills and helped salvage poorly made gowns for Proms and Homecomings, then "graduated" to doing the same for bridesmaids and brides. Bridal gowns are much more intricate and complicated to sew and alter.
I often made up a new technique with each project. I did have formal training in sewing (back when we actually learned hands-on skills in High School!) Though I went to College for Communications, I had almost 2 years of self-study with Art Instruction Schools in Drawing & Design. However, I really think part of sewing, or in doing anything creative, is a gift. It's a sense of knowing what is needed for the project at hand, and a knack for having an idea maybe someone else didn't have. That is what makes it fun for me! One of my favorite quotes is, "Creativity is intelligence having fun!" ~ Albert Einstein. But honestly, God helps me with each project, and He surprises me often on what He leads me to do!
My husband and I have been married for 42 years, so I truly believe in marriage! Weddings have so much meaning. They are about love, lasting vows, family, celebration, commitment and beginnings - the start of wonderful days to come! So, weddings have a special place in my sewing heart! Because every bride deserves to feel like the beautiful and precious woman she is, I so enjoy helping to create, redesign or improve something unique for her wedding day, and I work hard to do it well!
I look forward to helping you by altering or transforming your dress for your special day!
Blessings,
Debra B.
